Dockers Finish Fourth in Madison Invitational

The Cincinnati Dockers Australian Rules Football Club finished fourth in the Madison Invitational Tournament last Saturday in Madison, WI.

Due to weather issues, the tournament was relocated to the fields of the Wisconsin Rugby Club, and games were contracted to 11-a-side matches. This also resulted in shuffling the tournament groups. First, the Dockers challenged the Minnesota Freeze. Despite a tight first half, the Freeze used fast ball movement to win 85-43. Immediately after that, the Dockers rebounded to defeat the Des Moines Roosters 82-28. This would place the Dockers in the 3rd place final against Chicago United. However, with Cincinnati’s bench totally depleted due to injury, and Chicago with almost as many subs as players on the field, the Dockers could not hold off the United, falling 86-32.

The Dockers will next take the field at home on July 23rd, where they host the Milwaukee Bombers and their in-state rivals, the Columbus Jackaroos. The matches will take place at Point Pleasant Park in Fairfield, OH.
