Dockers Split Games in Season Opener in Louisville

The Cincinnati Dockers Australian Rules Football Club opened their 2014 season with a win and a loss to kick off play in the Ohio Valley Metro Football League at Champions Park in Louisville, Kentucky. Cincinnati faced two teams from Columbus, falling to the Banana Benders 75-43, followed by defeating the Anzacs 86-48.

In the first game, the Cincinnati Dockers took on a strong team from Columbus, called the Banana Benders. In that contest, despite the Dockers showing some good passages of play, the Benders had many more opportunities on goal, leading to a Dockers loss. The final score had the Benders with 11 goals and 9 behinds for 75 points, to the Dockers 6 goals and 7 behinds for 43 points.

The second match was much more favorable for the Dockers, taking on another team from Columbus, the Aztecs. The Dockers made some changes in their lineup that proved to be extremely fruitful. Cincinnati scored early, accurately, and often en route to a very convincing win. The final score gives the Dockers 14 goals and 2 behinds for 86 points to the Anzacs 7 goals and 6 behinds for 48 points.
